Aviation is a component of a larger global aerospace industry. Students interested in the flight program are oftentimes interested in the design aspect of aircraft as well.

The Aerospace Engineering Program at Ohio State offers BS, MS and PhD degrees in aeronautical and astronautical engineering (AAE). The program, which was originally founded in 1948, has gained national visibility in the aerospace engineering community.

The program is designed to prepare students for successful careers in a variety of specialty areas associated with the application aeronautical and astronautical engineering. In addition, a great number of undergraduate students participate in co-op or internship experiences. Ohio State is centrally located in relation to three major national aerospace powerhouses: NASA Glenn Research Center, Air Force Research Laboratory and GE Aviation.
